Videon CEO Receives Award from Penn State’s Development and Alumni Relations Division

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - May 20, 2015 - PRLog -- STATE COLLEGE, PA -- Videon’s Todd Erdley was honored with the 2015 Charles Lupton Volunteer Award from Penn State’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations. This annual award recognizes a Penn State graduate who provides outstanding volunteer service to the university and to community organizations.

Todd earned both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Penn State and has remained active with the university ever since. He served on the College of Engineering’s Industrial and Professional Advisory Committee for six years and was recognized as the College’s Electrical Engineering Outstanding Alumnus in 2007. Currently, Todd serves as Vice Chair of the Penn State Research Foundation.

A native to the region, Todd is also very active in a number of organizations in Penn State’s surrounding community. He is a member of Ben Franklin Technology Partners’ Board of Directors, head of the Chamber of Business and Industry of Centre County’s Entrepreneurship Committee, and Chairman of the Board of New Leaf Initiative. Todd has also been a board member of non-profit organizations such as Centre Volunteers in Medicine, the Red Cross, and Discovery Space.

Todd is especially involved in Centre County’s entrepreneurial community. He volunteers much of his time mentoring others, helping them to grow their own businesses. To foster networking and sharing of best practices Todd formed the Centre Region Entrepreneur Network in 2009, and it has grown into a foundational part of the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

In working with entrepreneurs Todd identified an economic imbalance in Central Pennsylvania. Realizing this was due to the erosion of private industry Todd initiated a movement called 3B33 that sets the goal of achieving three billion dollars in annual private economic output by the year 2033. This vision has become a widely adopted economic development initiative, supported by Penn State University, the Chamber of Business and Industry in Centre County (CBICC) and more.

“Receiving the Charles Lupton Volunteer Award is an honor,” says Todd. “It reflects the acceptance of the community, enablement provided by Penn State, and support of my colleagues at Videon. Penn State has always been a part of my life, and it is important to me to make an impact by giving back to the university and to the surrounding community that I call home. Alumni support is part of what makes this university great.”

The Division of Development and Alumni Relations recognized Todd as the winner of the 2015 Charles Lupton Volunteer Award at a ceremony on Monday, May 18th at the Nittany Lion Inn.
