| ![]() New flights set to help Orlando property sales take offBy: Feltrim Group New routes to Orlando being launched include daily Emirates flights from Dubai that are due to start in September and weekly flights from London Gatwick operated by no-frills carrier Norwegian. With Orlando Airport undergoing a $1.1billion expansion, the airport is aiming to increase the 35million passengers it currently receives each year and the new works could help add another 10million to the total. The impressive project, which includes smaller check-in desks, a new parking garage and train terminal, is set to be finished around 2018. It also includes a new $13.4million cell phone parking lot, where those picking up passengers can park for free until they are called. Once annual passenger numbers at the airport reach 45million, a new Southern terminal is likely to be built that will further increase Orlando visitor totals, which are already at a record high. As well as new international flights, Orlando Airport, is attracting an increasing number of fresh domestic flights to cope with the growing number of visitors to the city, which is the most popular destination in the United States. In 2014, Orlando welcomed a record 62million-plus visitors, up 5% on the previous year, says tourism body, VisitOrlando. New York City was second with 56.4million visitors. Garrett Kenny, Chief Executive Officer of the Feltrim Group, a leading Central Florida developer and agent, says there is an acknowledged correlation between a growth in foreign tourism in an area and overseas property demand. “Feltrim Group is seeing increasing demand from overseas buyers for our projects in and around Orlando both for vacation homes and for investment in real estate. “We are sure that the new flights from Dubai will open up fresh interest from Middle East investors and additional UK flights will boost already strong demand that we see from British buyers. “Once visitors come to Florida and see our world-class theme parks, including Disney and Universal, attractions, sporting and cultural venues, restaurants and experience our sunny weather, they fall in love with the area and start looking for their dream home… which is where we come in.” With the new Dubai flights secured, there are also hopes that direct flights will be established between Orlando and China, where foreign property demand is also strong.
