Neutopia Launches Canada's first Smart Building Royalty Program that Takes Advantage of Smart Meters
Property owners can receive monthly royalties; with ROI's 20%-50% the program offers the highest clean energy incentive rates in Canada
Last week Neutopia ecoSOLUTIONS Inc. (www.neutopia.ca, Est. 2008) launched a test pilot marketing campaign to attract host sites interested in being paid monthly royalty cheques to have a new smart building technology installed on their property that takes advantage of the information being collected by smart meters.
The technology becomes the new 'first step' for property owners to install before changing light bulbs or HVAC equipment, and it does not compete with any other energy saving devices. It simply installs at the point where electricity leaves the grid and where property owners become responsible, and it can be combined with any other energy savings equipment or technologies (of which Neutopia boasts the world's largest network of solutions for energy, waste and water).
The patented system integrates multiple information relays that enable it to 'communicate with the electricity coming into the building from the grid', and automatically reduces the amount a property will be charged for on their energy bills 'by recycling the electrons that a property may demand but which is not able to use efficiently'. Their free training seminars present details how it works and compares the various eco-Solutions to a human body; what goes in, how it is used, how all the organs work together to benefit the whole, and what goes out.
"I was amazed to learn how electricity bills are calculated and how people are charged. Most people assume that you are charged for what you consume and you consume what you are delivered but that is simply not the case" says Robert Laporte, CEO of Neutopia. "You are charged for electricity that you don't even use whether it's due to an old and inefficient electrical grid or due to inefficient equipment, and you have a separate charge before it even gets to your equipment.
Not only that, people think that they only have control over their total energy consumption, measured in kWh on your bill, and that they have no control over their delivery charges but that is absolutely not true. People can control their delivery charges and many people are amazed to learn that those confusing calculations can actually be responsible for as much as 30%-70% of their total electricity bills. Our smart building technology guarantees an immediate reduction of energy and of course their carbon footprint so whether it's economics or environmental sustainability property owners want this installed immediately."
The technology means millions of dollars in savings for property management companies and corporations with franchises, but for municipalities with multiple government-owned buildings it can be simply life-changing for the community.
Creating a Problem for the Government
"I was wondering why the government would make it mandatory to install smart meters but not make it mandatory to install smart building technologies that reduce energy consumption. Smart meters only measure what you are being delivered, but it's what you do with that information that dictates whether or not you have a smart building." says Laporte, "It took 17 years for the catalytic converter to become mandatory on automobiles to reduce carbon emissions...we aren't waiting for a government roll-out of this technology [it's already approved for government rebates] so we are offering it with 100% financing and 100% savings guarantee and if any property owner doesn't want to invest or have it financed then we have the 3rd option, which I personally prefer, and that's for Neutopia to own it and pay them monthly royalty cheques. 100% guaranteed income without any capital outlay, not a bad business for us to be launching!"
The new technology is being offered as part of Neutopia's 'Freedom from the Grid' suite of eco-Solutions but it might pose a problem for utility companies who need tax-payers to pay off big power plants and upgrades to electrical grid infrastructure. Those costs, including the cost of running Demand Response and other conservation programs, and incentives for peaking plants, auctions, and the wind and solar farms are all added into those delivery charges that are grouped together on the bills.
The system can be combined with other cleantech systems such as on-site power generation from 'building-integrated' renewable energy and on-site combined heat and power, and is compatible with any energy storage technologies. It also combines data from Neutopia's water conservation and on-site waste management solutions which can reduce organic waste by up to 90% and even convert it into revenue for host sites. Laporte says that combining technologies from the 'Freedom from the Grid' portfolio can be life-changing for property owners in the short term.
It is anticipated that many clients will end up purchasing these systems outright by tapping into Neuotpia's $600 Million Retrofitting Canada Community program and embracing an innovative 100% Savings Guarantee (ensuring a 20%-50% Return on Investment). The innovative Savings Guarantee pays a lump sum up-front following a 3rd party assessment on the performance of the technology in case Neutopia's estimates are off by any amount so it eliminates the financial risk from being an obstacle.
With a 10-year warranty and estimated 50-year lifespan, the solution is set to revolutionize utility bills for the next few decades.
Welcome to the smart grid.
