PRLog -- Transgender Author/Writer Toni Newman was honored on the 2015 Trans 100 list for her memoir I Rise-The Transformation of Toni Newman and her writings on the Huffington Post fighting for the rights of trans women of color. Her interview with Dr. Maya Angelou received great attention. The memoir I Rise has appeared in the Advocate, Ebony, Huffington Post and Maynard Institute of Journalism. The memoir I Rise has been adapted into a feature film (Heart of a Woman) starring Transgender actresss/singer Angelica Ross, Soap Star Daniel Sobieray, SNL comedian Leslie Jones, American Hustle star Elisabeth Rohm, and Wedding Crasher star Rachel Sterling.
The trans 100 list honors transgenders in the United States who are doing outstanding work on behalf of representing and fighting for the rights of transgender persons all over the world. Toni Newman is the Development and Administration Coordinator for South Los Angeles largest healthcare wellness centers and she is law school student as well. She received her BA degree from Wake Forest University and is certified as an enrollment counselor for Obamacare.
