GEORGETOWN, Texas - March 9, 2015 - PRLog -- Austin Real Cuauhtemoc welcomed Twin Cities FC to the Georgetown on Saturday with both knowing that come the end of the day, one would face a final showdown to decide the TPSL Championship and one would not!

Fresh from their Texas Cup victory three weeks ago, ARC watched as Houston Hurricanes took the first final spot last week with victory over Texas Timberz and knew that Twin Cities would offer a tough challenge to their tilt at the league and cup double.

Twin Cities would be hoping to overcome their tough hosts and with last months loss to the same team fresh in their memories, they knew exactly what they would need to do to reach the final.

13 goals had been scored in the previous three matches between the two sides this season,so goals had been expected. However in a tense affair where everything was at stake, goals were hard to come by.

Twin Cities were delivering the early chances at scoring but Austin goalkeeper Gerardo Romero was in top form continually thwarting the visitors attempts at opening the scoring, especially when one on one opportunities presented themselves. This form of goal stopping would help his side into the half time break still tied,

Entering into the second half, Twin Cities were still looking the stronger of the two sides and once again missed the target shortly after the restart, a miss that they would soon start to regret.

Austin were to open the scoring just after the hour when a Jesus Mora free kick took a fortuitous deflection, spinning past the keeper to make ot 1-0 to the home side.

Austin nearly added another shortly after with an audacious effort from 50 yards out when the midfielder noticed the Twin Cities keeper off his line, but the attempt failed to hit the target.

As time ran out for Twin Cities to grab an equalizer, they started to push extra bodies forward in the search but as the final whistle shrilled across the field, they knew that all the previous missed opportunities had finally came home to roost.

The win for Austin sees them now look forward to the Texas Premier Soccer League Championship Final on March 21st against regular season champions Houston Hurricanes at Chester L Davis League City Sportsplex 1251 League City Parkway League City, Texas 77573 with a 7pm kickoff.
