Follow on Google News | Woofstock Dog Festival 3-29-15 Ramapo College Mahwah NJBy: Woofstock Woofstock is inviting Ramapo students and families in the surrounding communities to join in celebrating all things dogs- including two contests: best pet costume and best trick. Winners of the competitions will receive gift cards to Petco. There will be arts and crafts, prizes, food, music, informational booths and local vendors. All guests that bring dogs will also receive a free white doggy bandana that can be tie-dyed at the event! There will also be Woofstock t-shirts for sale that can easily be tie-dyed. The event is a part of Elena and Samm’s senior campaign project for the Communication Arts major at Ramapo College. The project requires students to partner with a local non-profit to raise awareness about a social issue of their choice. In conducting original research, Elena and Samm found that many people disregard the important link between domestic violence and animal abuse. In order to bring light to the issue, the campaign will educate the public while also fundraising for Shelter Our Pets. About Woofstock Woofstock will be held at the Ramapo Bandshell located next to the main entrance. Guests will be asked to park in the main public lots. All attending dogs must be social, well-behaved and leashed with proof of license. Entry fee is $5 for adults, $3 for students and children over four, and free for dogs and children under four. All money from Woofstock will be directly donated to Shelter Our Pets. The rain date is Sunday April 26.
