Booktrope Announces the Creation of New Genre Imprints

New Imprints are designed to maximize success in key genres and bring cohesive marketing strengths to bear

SEATTLE - March 5, 2015 - PRLog -- Booktrope announces two new imprints, Gravity and Forsaken which join existing imprints, Edge (BDSM and dark thrillers), Entice (erotica) and Vox Dei (Christian).

Forsaken – “Classic horror for a neoclassical culture.” The new imprint will be helmed by Booktrope author and VP of Community Management, Jesse James Freeman. According to Freeman, the imprint will focus on the classic horror genre kicking off their efforts with an ambitious project currently titled “Book 38”. The new project is described as “38 chilling stories, 38 horror writers and 38 of the most ghastly places on earth” and will be compiled and illustrated by Maddie Holliday Von Stark (a Booktrope Book Manager, and Designer). Ms. Von Stark is already well known in the genre for her work as Art Director of the Wicked Library Podcast and her work on the marketing team for Fantastic Planet/A Night of Horror Film Festival, Sydney, Australia.

Gravity – “Stories of trauma and recovery.” Rachel Thompson, Booktrope author and owner of Bad Redhead Media, was chosen as the Managing Director of the imprint. Author of four books including “Broken Pieces” and “Broken Places” about her own journey as a survivor of sexual abuse, Ms. Thompson is an outspoken and tireless advocate for those often stigmatized by their past or circumstances. She shares the mission of the imprint in a recent blog post “the focus of Gravity is on stories of trauma and recovery — any kind, either fiction or nonfiction. So far, we have books on surviving domestic abuse, incest, bipolar, anxiety, and an anthology from non-profit organization Stigma Fighters.”

Vox Dei is also getting a fresh look and feel with a revived focus and a new Managing Director, longtime Booktrope author, Heather Huffman. Starting with the new description “Christian books for a messy world”, Huffman plans to focus initially on fiction, citing a lack of appropriate material for those who want quality novels that don’t go against their faith. “Our mission is to provide books for a primarily Christian audience that edify and entertain, encourage and inspire. While Christian themes are woven throughout fiction, our purpose is not to preach a sermon but rather provide a quality alternative to the secular market for entertainment” indicates Huffman.

Submissions for all Booktrope imprints can be made via the Submissions form on the Booktrope.com website.
