Country Music Singer-Songwriter Carmen Brandy Grows Music Row Presence
Country Music Female Vocalist of the Year selected to participate in coveted ASCAP songwriting program
Raised and influenced by mostly bluegrass music, Brandy has an authentic and engaging style with commanding vocals. With more than 100 original songs written, she chronicles her emotions in her music and delivers it in a fresh and contemporary way.
At 13, Brandy recorded a three-song debut EP in 2012. A year later, she released a follow-up self-titled EP featuring three original songs recorded in Nashville’s Sony Tree Studios. The EP was produced by Andy Sheridan, who is currently touring with Hunter Hayes, and features notable musicians such as bass player Ethan Pilzer of Big & Rich; fiddler Luke Bulla, a member of Lyle Lovett’s band; guitarist Jeff Smith of Phil Vassar’s band; and others. Brandy has a growing list of awards and accolades. In 2013, she won the annual Largo Teen Idol talent competition in Largo, FL beating out eight other singers from the Tampa Bay area. That same year she placed in the top 15 over 20,000 entrants for her original song You’re Beautiful (https://www.youtube.com/
Already this year, she was named “Female Vocalist of the Year” and her Sycamore Tree video was in the top five for “Video of the Year” in the 2015 Nashville Universe Awards. She was also recently voted a top four contestant in the final round of Nashville Rising Star, a singer-songwriter open mic multi-round contest in Nashville.
A talented musician and songwriter in her own right, Brandy is a member of The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). She was recently selected to participate in ASCAP’s highly coveted, year-long Guidance from Publishers for Songwriters (GPS) program in 2015.
Now in its fifth year, the GPS program puts emphasis on getting the best of Nashville’s unsigned ASCAP songwriters in front of the city’s vibrant publishing community. This year, 18 song writers are paired with publishers for one meeting a month, along with a follow-up meeting to help develop the writer. Additional activities include a songwriters round, networking events and guidance from attorneys and other influential industry professionals.
Brandy is a native of Safety Harbor, Florida. She moved to Franklin, Tennessee in 2013 to pursue a music career in Nashville. Her music is currently played on more than 25 radio and internet stations across the country.
She has performed all over the Tampa Bay and Nashville area including the 2014 CMA Festival. In Nashville, Brandy can be regularly found in writers rounds, performing at area festivals, music establishments, and more.
