LAS VEGAS - Feb. 27, 2015 - PRLog -- The countdown to Frank Sinatra’s would-have-been 100th birthday has begun.  And between now and the big day, December 12, hordes of fans and devotees will bask in the trove of music that still captivates millions.  With Sinatra-themed parties and events at an all-time high, Frank-like singers are in high demand.  Yet while many artists have attempted to recreate Sinatra’s smooth ribbon of sound and his legendary swagger, few have captured the essence so completely as Texas crooner Dave Halston.

You won’t find Dave headlining a Las Vegas show at the moment, nor will you find him courting fame on TV shows like “Americas Got Talent” or “American Idol”.  But you will find Dave working a plethora of special events, weddings, theatres and casinos coast to coast – and in most cases, leaving the audience stunned.  As one observer described it, “Dave Halston somehow casts a spell, and they always want more”.  Even Barbara Sinatra was brought to tears when Dave performed for her at a rather exclusive private event.  She called his performance “wonderful” and noted specifically the fine job Dave did with Sinatra’s signature song “My Way”.

These days, Halston's brilliant Tribute to Sinatra and his audacious Rat Pack shows are catching the attention of more than Mrs. Sinatra.  Across the country, Dave is injecting new life into the Great American Songbook with an engaging tribute to Sinatra that seems to energize every audience he meets.  And occasionally, he meets a very impressive audience. Not only has he delivered a command performance for Mrs. Sinatra, he has also entertained Jeanne Martin (Mrs. Dean Martin), recording artist Michael Feinstein and Mr. Las Vegas himself, Wayne Newton, among others.

Without a doubt, the attraction of Dave’s performance is contagious. While accolades from the older generation are almost a given, it is the younger generation that exhibits surprisingly strong enthusiasm. Arguably, contemporary artists, like Michael Buble, have re-opened doors and made a positive impact on young people and their tastes in music. But many will tell you, after seeing Dave Halston perform, they are overwhelmed by his confident vocal style that combines with an intangible element of charm.

Dave has another way of describing it:

“I never think of myself as putting on a show. I’m not an actor. And one thing that studying Sinatra taught me is to just be myself - and for goodness sake, be passionate about the music!  I’m not up there to sell me. I’m selling the song. That’s how Frank did it. Musical honesty.  And if people experience a little extra joy because of it, then I’ve succeeded.”

Of course, Dave’s popularity is also fueled by America’s focus on Sinatra’s 100th birthday.  According to Dave’s business manager, Liz Silverman, his 2015 calendar is already packed with fundraisers, weddings, casino nights and special events of all kinds for clients wanting to experience “Sinatra” during his centennial year.

Will the music ever disappear? If you ask Dave Halston, the answer is an emphatic no!  He says, “The world has a perpetual love affair with Frank and his music. We will continue dancing and romancing to the songs that are unmistakably the soundtracks of our lives.”

Happy Birthday Frank!
