NEW YORK - Feb. 2, 2015 - PRLog -- On April 22, 2014, James W. was lawfully within the property of the  NYCHA building where he resides in Brownsville, Brooklyn, NY known as the Van Dykes Houses. He sat on a bench waiting for a friend to go to the gym, when all of a sudden, numerous NYPD vehicles pulled up and ordered James and his friend to stop.

The NYPD officers explained to James that he was being arrested for possession of a firearm although he did not have any weapons on his person. The officers then said that they would check the video footage from the cameras located within the property to see if they showed James in possession of a firearm in the hours that had just passed. The video from the cameras was obtained and it did not show James in possession of any weapons, but he was arrested anyway. He was then taken to the 73rd precinct for processing where he spent about 14 hours. Thereafter, he was transported to Central Booking where he spent another 18 hours before seeing a judge, where he was ROR'd. After returning to court over a seven month time period, all of the criminal charges that had been levied against James were completely dismissed.
