Small Organization Succeeds in Developing Computer Science Program for All

Thinkersmith is a non-profit, founded with the mission to create a safe and exciting environment for people of all ages to engage with computer science, and learn the fundamentals in a unique, fun way. The gap that Thinkersmith is trying to fill is that of a lack of creative spaces for the community to get behind the most transformative technology of the modern age, computers. Everyone should get the chance to discover the superpower that we all have within us -- the ability to program a computer, and make magic happen.

Thinkersmith, has launched an Indiegogo campaign to bring to life its first such creative space in Eugene. Eugene is a small town in Oregon -- far from the Silicon Valley or any of the rest of the nation’s technology hubs, and yet it is in these small towns of America that we believe we must bring change first. Biographies of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs and others like them reveal that they were able to do what they did only because they had access to computers and encouragement from a young age. Thinkersmith wants to bring this access to all of the small towns across America.

With its Indiegogo campaign, Thinkersmith is reaching out to the community to help bring this change to life, and bring computer science access not just to the elite technology hubs, but to the nation’s small towns as well. This campaign exists because every child in America deserves the opportunity to master the skills of the future.
