The LBD is Dead – Make way for Bold African Print Party Dresses
Elegant silhouettes and bold prints in easy to wear day-to-night one-off pieces
African inspired label Sasaako presents a capsule collection of vivid African print dresses for the party season. The label, founded in 2004 by British Ghanaian designer, Aba Sasaako, is best known for its quirky one-off African printed dresses.
This month sees the timely launch of an elegant range of dresses designed to work from day-to-night, as the party season gets under way.
The collection features two key shapes: a slim-line over-the-knee shift dress and a fit-and flare v-necked long sleeved dress. Both shapes have been designed to flatter the figure and carry Aba’s bold prints exceptionally well.
The collection includes several one-off dresses, while other pieces have been produced in quantities of six or fewer. The fabrics have been carefully chosen to add a pop of colour for the festive season and beyond; great for women looking for an alternative to the LBD.
The collection is now available to buy online at Sasaako.com. Prices start at £139.

Sasaako was founded in 2004 by British Ghanaian designer, Aba Sasaako. Aba's vision for her label was simple: to create a distinctive range of fashion and interior products that represent a fusion of contemporary design and African textiles.
Her aim is to create unique products that will be much loved and cherished by people who value originality and rare finds. To achieve this Aba works with limited edition fabrics and makes each of her products in small quantities. Close attention to detail is paid throughout the design and production process to ensure the highest quality.
The current collection has a real bespoke, tailor-made feel to it, with each dress being made in quantities of six pieces or less and featuring hand-finished detailing.
Aba Sasaako says:
“The limited availability is as much a part of the brand as the beautiful prints themselves. My dresses are for women who want to stand apart from the crowd and enjoy their individuality. I work with fabrics from my own collection, prints that I’ve acquired on my travels and have been given. Each print is special and my customers tend to be women that are looking for something unique and eye catching.”
