U.S. ITC Opens Investigation Into Infringement of Segway Personal Transporter Patents and Copyrights

BEDFORD, N.H. - Nov. 6, 2014 - PRLog -- Segway Inc. (http://www.segway.com) (Segway), the world’s leading provider of electric personal transportation, announced today that the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) has agreed to open an investigation into whether products currently imported by a number of companies should be excluded from the U.S. market because they infringe Segway’s Personal Transporter (PT) patents and copyrights.

The decision to open an investigation comes after Segway, along with DEKA Research and Development Corporation (http://www.dekaresearch.com/index.shtml) (DEKA), founded by renowned inventor Dean Kamen, filed a joint amended complaint (http://www.segway.com/segway-resources/downloads/pdfs/ITC_Complaint_092014.pdf) with the U.S. ITC.

"We’re pleased with the ITC’s decision to open an investigation into this matter,” said Rod Keller, President, Segway. “The Segway PT is an iconic American product that is protected by U.S. and foreign patents. We fully intend to protect it against infringement and copying.”
