In-CarPC’s Multi-Function On-Board Computers

NORWICH, U.K. - Oct. 16, 2014 - PRLog -- Specialist manufacturer of on-board computers, In-CarPC, builds rugged in-vehicle computers for many industries, including haulage, emergency services and refuse collection. Now part of Bowmonk Ltd, and with a renewed focus on growth and development through strategic alliances with software partners, the company will soon be introducing a new range of rugged fanless PCs able to carry out numerous functions which previously required several separate systems.

CCTV is one such function.  Supporting up to 16 analogue camera inputs and with 4 Gigabit LAN ports for IP cameras, In-CarPC’s forthcoming CQ30 series of computers can rival any conventional CCTV system.  Footage can be recorded to a removable hard drive, with an option for a second “mirrored” drive for data security, and footage can also be retrieved or streamed live via Wi-Fi or cellular 4G connections.

The built-in 4G connectivity, which supports dual modems with either load balancing or channel bonding options, can also be used to provide a Wi-Fi hotspot to passengers.  Built-in GPS allows the PC to send tracking data back to head office, and a driver-visible touchscreen can show navigation information, tailored for larger vehicles.  When stationary the driver’s screen can be used for a variety of web applications or any software that runs on Windows 7 or Windows 8 – like ticketing, payment processing and job dispatch.  Running a custom in-house Windows application is exactly what Manchester Airport uses In-CarPC’s computers for, in their fleet of passenger buses (pictured).

In addition to the driver’s screen a large passenger-visible panel can be used to show adverts or location-based information to passengers, with content managed remotely from any web-enabled PC.  A built-in CAN-bus connection combined with an optional G-force sensor can record information about driving style to promote safe and efficient driving.

In-CarPC’s computers therefore provide one flexible platform that carries out many functions, resulting in cost savings on the equipment and a reduction in installation time and occupied space.
