McCarthy Awarded Construction Contract

HOUSTON - Sept. 17, 2014 - PRLog -- McCarthy Building Companies’ Specialized Solutions Group was recently awarded the construction of the Texas Children’s Health Plan- The Center for Children and Women in Southwest Houston. The project will consist of an interior build out of more than 55,000 square feet of clinical and administrative space.

“This will be our first project with Texas Children’s Health Plan, and we are proud to be working with such a respected institution,” said McCarthy Houston Division President Jim Stevenson. “Our prior successes on similar projects were instrumental in this project win. The Specialized Solutions Group is ready to take on the task, and we hope this is the first of many future projects we will have the opportunity to work on with Texas Children’s Health Plan.”

Led by McCarthy Project Manager Preston Hodges and Project Superintendent Michael Kacal, the Houston-based Specialized Solutions Group concentrates on unique healthcare, laboratory, and higher education projects.  The group has plans to target higher education and healthcare clients within a three to five mile radius of the Texas Medical Center, the largest medical center in the world. In addition to this recent project win, the Specialized Solutions Group has been awarded preconstruction services on the Rice University MD Anderson Biological Lab project that will include the demolition and build out of 31,000 square feet of lab space in the MD Anderson Biological Lab building. In addition, the team is working on the complete equipment replacement of the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) 12, also in Houston.
