By: Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc. Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by a dedication ceremony at 10:00 a.m. to honor those who died during the September 11, 2001 attacks, then a ribbon cutting ceremony and walk starting at 11:00 a.m. From there, walkers will have the opportunity to tour the grounds and see some of the historically preserved buildings along the way. Sponsorship opportunities are available. This year’s fundraising goal is $400,000. Teams and individuals are encouraged to raise money, all of which will go to ADRC for Alzheimer’s research and care. Walkers who raise $100 or more will be treated to a Coney Island-themed lunch and live entertainment. There will be special appearances by The USO Liberty Bells, June Claire Dancers, Ronald McDonald® and the oldies group Encore. Registration fees will apply only to people who would like to walk but do not have intentions of fundraising. Registration fees are $20 per adult, $10 for teens 13-18, and $5 for children 2-12. Children under 2 are free. “This is a fun and easy way to get the family together to help raise money and promote awareness about Alzheimer’s disease here on Long Island. It is important that we continue research that will enable better treatments so we can start fighting back and move a step closer to our vision of a future free from Alzheimer’s,” Registration for teams and individuals is still ongoing.
