Local Union Carpenters build VIP platform for nonprofit fundraising event

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - Aug. 22, 2014 - PRLog -- Earlier this month, Carpenters of the Indiana/Kentucky/Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) volunteered their time and skills to the SWIRCA & More BrewFest fundraising event at Bosse Field in Evansville.

SWIRCA & More is a nonprofit organization with the mission to enhance opportunities for independent living in Gibson, Perry, Posey, Spencer, Vanderburgh and Warrick Counties in Indiana. It serves older adults and individuals of all ages who are disabled.

SWIRCA & More contacted Local 224 for help with building a platform for the BrewFest VIP area, which was an area set up at the BrewFest with offerings exclusive to VIP ticket holders. With the help of Scaffold King employees Don Harris and Bob Grigsby, seven Local 224 members were able to engineer and execute the project.

“The construction portion of the event was critical to the success of BrewFest,” said Keith Gander, Vice President of Development at SWIRCA & More. “We really appreciate what the Carpenters did for us. The guys really didn’t miss a beat - they were very helpful, professional and did a great job.”

“The BrewFest is SWIRCA & More’s largest fundraising event of the year,” said Marvin Byrer of the IKORCC. “It’s a huge event for them and for the entire community, so we were honored to do what we could to help.”
