4D Systems releases new displays for the Raspberry Pi

Aug. 19, 2014 - PRLog -- 20 August 2014, 4D Systems today announced the release of 4DPi-32, a 3.2” 320x240 and 4DPi-35, a 3.5” 480x320 Primary Displays for the Raspberry Pi, which plug directly on top of a Raspberry Pi A, B or B+.

“With the release of the 4DPi-32 and 4DPi-35 marks the latest milestones for 4D Systems. We continue to demonstrate our commitment to bringing new products to market and meet the diverse demands of our consumers.” said James Barkwith, Product Development Manager, 4D Systems.

4DPi-32 and 4DPi-35 feature an integrated Resistive Touch panel, enabling both of these products to function with the Raspberry Pi without the need for a mouse and designed to work with the Raspbian Operating System running on the Raspberry Pi.

“Communication between the 4DPi-32 and 4Dpi-35 and the Raspberry Pi is interfaced with a high speed 48Mhz SPI connection, which utilises an on-board processor for direct command interpretation and SPI communication compression, and features a customised DMA enabled kernel. This enables us to achieve frame rates in the realm of 25 FPS on the 3.2 ”display”. Barkwith adds.
