Discuss Issues Facing Nevada Business Owners with Guy Dawson, Julie Burke and Randi Thompson

 “There is strength in numbers,” says Burke who urges more business owners to join the organization. One of the primary benefits of NFIB is that members set the group’s stance on political issues. “We inform people of pending legislation on the state and federal level and they decide, through a series of balloting, whether we lobby for or against the legislation,” says Burke.

Thompson and Burke will discuss issues currently facing business owners such as ObamaCare and the Educational Initiative, a proposed margins tax which voters will see on the November ballot. The initiative will create a new 2% tax on all Nevada businesses with gross revenues over $1 million annually. “The legislature could reduce existing funding to compensate for the new tax revenues, which means education funding would not be increased at all,” said Thompson.  “All this tax means is that the size of government will grow by hundreds of millions of dollars.”  95.9% of Nevada NFIB members are opposed to the tax. “Our members have spoken, and NFIB/Nevada will throw its full support behind the coalition to Stop the Margin Tax (www.StopTheMarginTax.com),” said Thompson.
