DELHI/NCR, India - Aug. 8, 2014 - PRLog -- Facilitating connectivity and utilizing the outreach of web to reap the harvest of a techno-friendly nation, PM Modi took yet another step to enable Wi-Fi’s in urban areas and universities. Such a thoughtful move will make the technology available to public at their ease with no bucks to pay.

State government and municipal bodies will be funded to facilitate Wi-Fi’s in urban areas and universities. Other initiatives like availing Wi-Fi, mobile connectivity and mobile towers in the uncovered villages of Himalayan states and other districts affected by Left Wing Extremism will establish a sustainable and balanced growth in the economy.

A survey by CPP states that “Urbanization in India by 2030 is estimated to reach skies with 590 million people estimated to live in cities and 70% of net new employment to be generated in cities”, given such a scenario, technological impetus will ensure better network connectivity and an upgraded IT friendly population.

With government planning to increase internet penetration in country, enabling Wi-Fi access in urban areas will step towards becoming a technology-driven country. Availing Wi-Fi in urban areas will endow a lot of economic benefits like boosting e-financial services, facilitating e-commerce, enhancing tourism base, promoting e-governance etc.

Technology has been a prevalent factor serving to growth and development of any economy and education the biggest enabler for revolutionary changes, merging both can ensure fruitful dividends in future. Providing Wi-Fi’s in universities will ensure a interactive way of learning and will assure enhanced interest and better results. A Wakefield Research polled 501 US Colleges and figured out that “9 out 0f 10 said Wi-Fi access is as essential to education as classrooms and computers, while nearly three in five say they wouldn’t go to a college that doesn’t have free Wi-Fi. Almost 80% percent said that without Wi-Fi access, college would be a lot harder.” Various surveys suggest that offering Wi-Fi access in colleges can help in improving grades of students. Moreover, Wi-Fi has become a universal expectation among college students and they respond in a much responsive way to the quick access to information that Wi-Fi makes possible, including access to academic information, university schedules and events or the apps to keep updates about the latest happenings in the world. In addition to these points enabling Wi-Fi in universities will facilitate the online education which is emerging as an equitable medium of imparting education.

CPP believes that such an initiative of government to make technology easily affordable for the masses will empower the country and open the gateway towards becoming a developed and IT friendly nation.

CPP is a think tank, based in Delhi committed to dialogue and discussion on a wide array of issues like better governance, equity and inclusiveness, harmony in society, education et al...
