LAKE WORTH, Fla. - July 14, 2014 - PRLog -- Long Island local Robert Ceparano led the charge for Cedar Croft polo team as they defended their National Championship title Saturday, July 12, at the Country Farms Polo Club in Medford, New York.

Moments after the bowl-in, the Cedar Croft team made up of Robert Ceparano, Felipe Viana and top-rated professional Kris Kampsen, acted quickly with a goal right out of the lineup against $D Ranch team comprised of Dan Coleman, Will Tankard and the highest rated arena polo player in the world, Tommy Biddle.

With goal for goal aggressively matched throughout the game, both teams squared off in the final chukker. The score was tied 10-10 with one minute remaining. As the clock ticked down, Cedar Croft’s Viana maneuvered the ball across the arena to score the championship goal leading them to a 11-10 victory.

Robert Ceparano rode away with Most Valuable Player, exclaiming, “It was an honor just to be playing among some of the world’s best arena players like Biddle and Kampsen, and representing the local and polo community of Long Island makes this moment that much sweeter.”

Celebrating a deep-rooted American history, the U.S. Open Arena Polo Championship® dates back to 1926, and today the prestigious tournament continues the tradition of fast-action, competitive play among highly-skilled athleticism of both horse and rider. Five teams faced off in the historic tournament, which included some of the best arena polo players in the world sparring for the sport’s oldest and most coveted arena trophy in America.
