-- The Indiana/Kentucky/
Ohio Regional Council of Carpenters (IKORCC) volunteered their time and talents at a week-long project for Leon’s Triathlon. Held in Hammond, Leon’s Triathlon focuses on honoring and supporting the military and military-related organizations through the sport of the triathlon. This is the fifth year the carpenters have participated in the event.
Although the event was held in early June, footage will be aired on Comcast Sports Network on the following dates and times (CST): July 11 at 1pm, and July 20 at 4:30pm. The broadcast can also be viewed on DirecTV channel 665 and Dish Network channel 429.
Each year, the Carpenters of the IKORCC (along with contractors Hasse Construction and Safway Scaffolding providing equipment and material) assist in the set up and tear down of the chute bike racks and trusses for for the cycling portion of the race.
“The Carpenters have been so instrumental in all aspects of the triathlon, and everyone really comes together to create an amazing event honoring our nation’s heroes,” said Leon Wolek, Leon’s Triathlon event coordinator. “We are so honored to work with them every year. They are such a humble, compassionate and respectful group of individuals, and their dedication is reflected in their work. It means so much to me that the Carpenters work so hard to go above and beyond, and so many thanks go out to them.”
“At the end of the day, it’s all about the men and women who serve our country and showing them our respect and appreciation,”
said Tom Dorsey, IKORCC Senior Supervisor. “Being a part of Leon’s Triathlon is so inspiring, and we feel so privileged to lend our time and skills to pay homage to our nation’s military every year.”
