Yes, says Professor Daniel Howard of the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He conducted a survey and found that nearly 80% of the respondents “expressed anger, frustration or outright rage” with plastic packaging materials. This is not just a U.S. problem. Reader’s Digest surveyed consumers in Malaysia, Australia, and New Zealand and found that 89% of them also felt “frustrated or furious” when they struggled to open plastic packaging. “We’ve all had those moments,” says Bill Van Workum, cofounder of startup Begenio, LLC, “after bringing home a new gadget, or unwrapping a new gift, you ask yourself: How do I get this thing open?” Consumers have tried all sorts of items to open rigid-plastic packaging including knives, scissors, ice picks, and even can openers. However, using each of these items to open packaging is problematic. Inspired by the creativity of others, such as the artist Leonardo da Vinci, and having backgrounds in engineering, the cofounders thought that there had to be a better solution. In time, they developed the idea of an artfully-engineered plastic package opener. This new category of plastic packaging openers would blend both art and technology together. Beautifully designed and constructed from a highly polished and durable aluminum alloy, the Belapri brand of plastic package openers are quick and easy to use. No longer will consumers struggle to remove products from their packages. The openers also feature easily replaceable blades and reusable storage boxes to keep the openers handy for the next use. Now available from both Belapri.com and Amazon.com, the Belapri plastic package openers make great gifts for family and friends. They are also useful gadgets or tools to have around the house and kitchen. “Everything we do,” says Mr. Van Workum, “we do with purpose.” He adds, “Our aim is to make this a better world. We do that by making our products beautifully designed, less complicated, and easy to use.” End
