Muslims for Progressive Values Supports President Obama's Executive Order to Prohibit Discrimination

LOS ANGELES - June 17, 2014 - PRLog -- MPV firmly believes in the equality of and inclusion of all individuals regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity in society and in the Muslim community.

We believe “Justice for All” from the U.S. Constitution reiterates the values of the Quran as in verse 5:8 – “O you who believe, stand for God and be witnesses for justice, and let not the hatred towards a people make you avoid being just. Be just, for it is closer to righteousness, and be aware of God. God is expert over what you do.”

MPV strongly supports President Obama's intention to sign an executive order that would prohibit most federal contractors from discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. This order will provide workplace protection to millions of employees across the U.S. and will allow people to realize their own "pursuit of happiness" as outlined in the Declaration of Independence.

Muslims for Progressive Values recognizes the worth of every human being. Seeking to enact justice through word and deed, MPV fully endorses any effort that promotes the human and civil rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and queer (LGBTIQ) individuals.
