SBDC to Receive Award from U.S. Small Business Administration

CAMARILLO, Calif. - June 6, 2014 - PRLog -- EDC-VC (http://www.edc-vc.com)’s Small Business Development Center of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties has been selected for the “Service Excellence and Innovation Award”by the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Los Angeles District Office and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce. The district-wide award honors the local SBDC, which provides free one-on-one business advising and workshops to small businesses, for exceeding operational goals, implementing innovative programs, actively developing counseling staff and advancing opportunities for entrepreneurial development.

Ray Bowman, SBDC director of Ventura and Santa Barbara Counties, will accept the award June 19 at the 2014 National Small Business Week Awards Luncheon.

“SBA is proud to have EDC-VC among our Small Business Development Center Network,” said Victor Parker, district director, Los Angeles District Office. “For Ray Bowman, Bruce Stenslie and their business advisors to take home the Service Center Excellence and Innovation award this year goes to show the level of service they provide on a day-to-day basis to small businesses in Ventura and Santa Barbara counties.”

“No matter what small businesses throw at them be it funding, permitting, marketing, process improvement, exporting, you name it, the EDC-VC team delivers for its clients and has earned this coveted award,” he added.

In addition to creating 186 jobs and retaining another 493 jobs last year, the SBDC and its advisors and partners developed several innovative resource and information tools for clients. Other impacts include the startup of 39 new businesses and helping existing businesses access more than $37 million in loans and equity infusions.
