Crowdfunding Digital Swag Bag Filling Up For General Assembly LA Workshop
General Assembly in Santa Monica to host a crowdfunding video workshop with IndieGoGo and Digital Fundraising School.
He will be joined by Alisa Cordesius, Cause Manager at IndieGoGo, for the day-long production workshop.
"At Indiegogo, we find campaigns that launch with a pitch video raise 370% more funds compared to ones without a pitch video. The interactive nature of videos allows campaign owners to tell their personal, compelling story and attracts potential contributors as they get to know you. Being authentic and concise are crucial for success," Ms. Cordesius said.
The day-long workshop includes a presentation about best practices for crowdfunding video production, examples from successful campaign videos, and a brainstorming session for participants to develop a script or story outline.
"This is a pioneering workshop designed to launch your crowdfunding video in one day," said Mr. Schneider. "We're really excited about the partners we've attracted for this event, who are generously helping us fill up our digital swag bag."
All participants will receive special offers from Hourly Nerd, Sprout Social, Mention.net, and computer retailer MacMall.
HourlyNerd is an online marketplace that connects 5,000+ top-tier MBAs directly to small businesses for project-based work. The venture connects alumni of premier firms such as McKinsey & Co., Google, and Goldman Sachs with businesses looking for a flexible, cost-efficient way to address business challenges.
"The challenges faced by people launching a crowdfunding campaign are right up our alley. The foundational needs of each campaign are similar to startups that we have worked with. Our consultants are well positioned to help with marketing strategy, audience research, sharpening the pitch, and creating a clear message to deliver the best crowdfunding campaign possible," said Joe Miller, Co-Founder & Head of Business Development at Hourly Nerd.
Mr. Miller will offer a free initial consulting call to any workshop participant. Hourly Nerd is also offering a special one-time discount for participants in the workshop, providing a fee discount of $50 for any project budget of $500 or more.
Workshop tuition of $500 will include access to a video crew attending with a full complement of audio, video, lighting and media transfer capability. Videographer Becky Sangha will be on hand at the workshop to shoot the most challenging part of video for most crowdfunders:
"Talking to the camera to make a compelling appeal can be hard for many of us. We're going to make that easy for people at the workshop," Mr. Schneider said. Mr. Schneider and Ms. Cordesius will coach participants through their on-camera appeal, helping them create their best crowdfunding video. Anyone attending the workshop will get a firewire drive with all their best takes on it.
After the workshop, participants may finish post production of their video on their own, choose to receive production coaching from Mr. Schneider, or have a team of Hollywood film editors assembled by Mr. Schneider finish post production for them for an additional fee.
The digital swag bag includes additional goodies useful to crowdfunders.
