Steven Spielberg Boards THE BFG

April 27, 2014 - PRLog -- Steven Spielberg just can’t get enough! He already filled his slate with Robocalypse sci-fi actioner, Montezuma epic drama, a Cold War spy thriller with Tom Hanks, and a possible West Side Story remake, but it looks like he doesn’t plan on slowing down.

DreamWorks has again attached vet filmmaker, this time to direct a live-action adaptation of the Roald Dahl children’s book The BFG. While those initials could stand for many things like, “Built For Gamers”, “Best Freaking Graphics”, or even “Big F***ing Gun,” in this case it’s short for “Big Friendly Giant,” of course.

The 1982 story that was turned into an animated film in 1989 (below), and has also been performed as a stage play, follows “a girl named Sophie, who encounters and befriends the Big Friendly Giant. Though his initial appearance is intimidating, the BFG turns out to be a softhearted soul who’s considered an outcast by the other giants because unlike his peers, he refuses to eat boys and girls.”
