| ![]() Call for Entries – Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition 2014The annual Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition enters its third year with a new jury member and an art book on the way. Entry deadline June 16, 2014.
By: The Center for Metal Arts Results of the competition are widely publicized. The Center for Metal Arts hosts the international Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition each year, and has partnered with Charles Lewton-Brain to release an art book this summer to celebrate the event’s inaugural two years. Art Jewelry magazine will present winning entries in a print issue and special online gallery again this year. Top entries are also shared in video format. See the 2013 gallery at http://tinyurl.com/ Prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd place and Honorable Mention will include gift certificates from Rio Grande and hand-selected items from Charles Lewton-Brain. Additional entries are recognized in a Jurors’ Choice round. Winners will be announced on Aug 1, 2014, during the annual four-day workshop intensive with Charles Lewton-Brain at the Center for Metal Arts, at the yearly Friday night dinner preview of entries. The Lewton-Brain Foldform Competition is a survey of the evolution of foldforming as it is applied in the world today in large and small scale; in jewelry, sculpture, architecture, functional objects, and unexpected applications. Recognition goes to excellence in craftsmanship, original or innovative design, and overall visual impact. Master goldsmith Charles Lewton-Brain is Head of the Jewellery/Metals Program at the Alberta College of Art and Design. He is a world renowned author, educator, artist, and has pioneered the innovative suite of metal techniques known as foldforming. He is the author of Foldforming, the definitive book on the topic.
