![]() Drews Computer Repairs Says Windows XP is no more, Do I Need to Upgrade???I don't get windows updates on my XP computer, Do I need to Upgrade to windows 7?
Some people are saying but Microsoft protects me with all the security bugs that come out. That is in a way true, but it’s only a way for Microsoft and other computer places to make money off of the little guy. In this article, I will be listing some helpful tips for users that want to continue using Windows XP and keep Microsoft out of our wallets! Tip #1: Always have a working Anti-Virus, Non-Windows Firewall and an up to date browser. The ones I recommend are AVAST! Anti-Virus Free Edition, McAfee Desktop Firewall & Modzilla Firefox respectively. Tip #2: Don't use common passwords. 12345 is NOT a secure password and are very guessable for most hackers. Tip #3: Ask an expert computer service person BEFORE you try to repair the computer yourself. I get a lot of the time "I tried to remove the virus myself and now my computer is unusable." or "My buddy across the street said it’s pretty easy to do it yourself". There is a possible chance that those people got lucky, but they are NOT computer service people. The only computer repair service people out there that can service a computer have a diploma in Computer Repair or A+ Certification. Always ask a computer technician to show their credentials. Other than those three tips, be safe & secure on the internet. End
