Brandon Hall Group Releases Talent Acquisition Benchmarking Report
Research shows little planning or strategy, long time-to-hire, and negligible use of talent acquisition suites; 45% of organizations surveyed still use tools such as Outlook and Excel to manage workflows.
The State of Talent Acquisition 2014: Disconnect Between Priorities and Process (http://go.brandonhall.com/
“This giant disconnect between priority and process indicates that many organizations are still wrapping their heads around the role that employer brand and candidate experience play in attracting – and thereby hiring – better talent,” said Kyle Lagunas, Brandon Hall Group Talent Acquisition Analyst and the author of the report.
Only 21% of organizations rated their talent acquisition efforts as more than moderately effective. Overall, the research revealed a general lack of maturity in talent acquisition processes For example:
• Only 40% of organizations plan for talent needs at least six months in advance, and almost one in four does not conduct planning of any kind.
• More than 60% of organizations take more than four weeks to hire an employee, from initial application to offer acceptance. About 20% take more than eight weeks to complete the hiring process.
• Use of sophisticated talent acquisition technologies is negligible: Less than 3% of organizations have full talent acquisition technology suites; 45% use only tools such as Outlook and Excel to manage their process.
• Only 7% of companies have a formal social talent acquisition strategy and only 5% have a formal mobile strategy.
Lagunas said, “The most effective hiring organizations today are applying advanced marketing techniques and leveraging next-gen technology to support highly effective talent acquisition processes. Their less effective counterparts, on the other hand, are still holding fast to outdated processes.”
Mike Cooke, Brandon Hall Group CEO, said this report provides excellent data that should make organizations re-evaluate how they are conducting their talent acquisition strategy and processes.
“Those organizations hoping to hire better talent must first evaluate basic components of their talent acquisition process – and see how they stack up against more effective hiring organizations. This report gives them great ammunition to get started.”
