By: The Business of Spine The first seminar, Reimbursement Education for the Spinal Implant Representative, brought together sales reps from the different implant manufacturing companies and was designed to provide the rep with the resources and tools necessary to expand their knowledge of spine coding and reimbursement issues. Topics included Understanding the Hospital Revenue Track, DRG Classifications 2014 and other helpful insights to give them a competitive edge in this highly competitive field. The second program, Revenue Cycle Dynamics for the Spine Reimbursement Specialist (SRS) Certificate Program, was attended by spine coders and staff from practices located throughout the United States who came to learn from Barbara Cataletto, MBA, CPC, the nation’s subject matter expert in spine coding and reimbursement, and CEO/President of The Business Spine. This intensive program, consisting of the Foundation, the Framework and the Fusion, is the most comprehensive course available today for the spine professional and provides the attendees more than just an opportunity to enhance their skills, but also the opportunity to ask questions and present some of their most difficult cases, in this highly interactive program. The 4th day, the SRS Boot Camp was added in response to the demands of the spine industry professional for more in-depth practical experience. This rigorous workshop was held on Friday, March 28th and featured a full day of in-depth case work. Spine cases were worked through every step of the entire revenue cycle in order to help the spine professional develop skills in the areas of: spine coding, claims auditing, payment evaluation and appeals protocols. This complete four day program is based on the exclusive internal training program utilized by Business Dynamics RCM, the leading revenue cycle management firm serving the spine industry. Linda Taylor, from Tulsa Brain and Spine, taking the course for the third time, had this to say “I may not get it all on the first, or second time, but each time I learn something new. What I DO know is that when I got back to the office after taking the course, our revenues went up”.
