By: BPRS-LA “BPRS-LA is committed to honoring African American communicators who have made a significant contribution to our profession, and paved a path for future generations,” The Pioneer Awards were named after co-founder of the National Black Public Relations Society and PR guru, the late Pat Tobin. An entrepreneur, master networker, and veteran communications expert, Tobin’s long list of clients included Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., Fitzgerald’s Hotel and Casino, and award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee. Tobin and Associates was one of the premier public relations firms in the nation, and one of the few African American, female-owned PR agencies. The Pat Tobin Pioneer Awards are designed to celebrate the career achievements of African American communications professionals who continue the legacy of Pat Tobin through their tireless work and dedication to shaping a positive narrative for the global brands and clients they represent. About BPRS-LA Since its founding in 1987, National Black Public Relations Society (NBPRS) has served as an advocate for African-American professionals in public relations, corporate communications, investor relations, government affairs, community relations, digital communications, and related fields.
