BPRS-LA and CBS Entertainment Diversity to Honor Communications Trailblazers

Rae Jones, Roz Stevenson, and Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i to Receive the Pat Tobin Pioneer Award

LOS ANGELES - March 5, 2014 - PRLog -- LOS ANGELES, CA—March 5, 2014 –The Black Public Relations Society of Los Angeles (BPRS-LA) and CBS Entertainment Diversity group have joined forces to honor communication trailblazers with the Pat Tobin Pioneer Awards on March 6, 2014 at CBS Studios. Honorees include Rae Jones, president/CEO of Raediant Communications and executive director of Great Beginnings for Black Babies, Inc.; Roz Stevenson, president/CEO of Roz Stevenson Public Relations (retired); and Tiffany Smith-Anoa’i, vice president, entertainment diversity and communications, CBS Television. With more than 90 years of combined experience, these three powerhouse public relations practitioners are being recognized for their enduring impact on the communications industry.

“BPRS-LA is committed to honoring African American communicators who have made a significant contribution to our profession, and paved a path for future generations,” said Shawn Turner, president of BPRS-LA. “Our mission is to foster diversity throughout the communications industry and it is important to take a moment to acknowledge these phenomenal women who continue to be a shining example of excellence and inspire us all.”

The Pioneer Awards were named after co-founder of the National Black Public Relations Society and PR guru, the late Pat Tobin.  An entrepreneur, master networker, and veteran communications expert, Tobin’s long list of clients included Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc., Fitzgerald’s Hotel and Casino, and award-winning filmmaker Spike Lee.  Tobin and Associates was one of the premier public relations firms in the nation, and one of the few African American, female-owned PR agencies. The Pat Tobin Pioneer Awards are designed to celebrate the career achievements of African American communications professionals who continue the legacy of Pat Tobin through their tireless work and dedication to shaping a positive narrative for the global brands and clients they represent.
