A new training is coming up in San Diego that may just fit your needs: Medical/Healthcare Interpreting 101™ – a 40-hour training for certification

This 40-hour training prepares individuals who are interested in becoming medical interpreters or certify in the future by covering all topics under the knowledge areas that are tested in the written exam by the Certification Commision for Healthcare Interpreters and the National Board of Certification for Medical Interpreters, providing an opportunity to glean a deep understanding of Roles, Protocols, Standards and Ethics that guide interpreters on how to prepare for and manage an interpreting encounter, interact with other healthcare professionals and demonstrate cultural awareness, interface and responsiveness.

Role-play activities are available in multiple languages, including Spanish, Vietnamese, Khmer, Tagalog, Chinese, Russian, Farsi and Armenian.  English activities are also availble for Sign Language Interpreters.
