New Jersey Apartment Association Names William Dailey President at Annual Membership Meeting

Strengthening Multi-Family Rental Housing Industry and Increasing Participation in Advocacy Efforts is NJAA's Focus for 2014

MONROE TOWNSHIP, N.J. - Jan. 31, 2014 - PRLog -- The New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) swore in William Dailey of CIS Management, Inc, as president during its annual membership meeting on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. More than 200 association members attended the event, which was held at The Imperia in Somerset, N.J.

The NJAA is a non profit trade association representing owners, builders, developers and managers of rental homes in New Jersey as well as hundreds of suppliers to the multi-family rental housing industry.

Dailey, who was elected to a two-year term, emphasized in his remarks the importance of multi-family rental housing to New Jersey's economy. "Our industry supports over 44,000 jobs and provides one million families-one in every three New Jerseyans-with a place to call home," said Dailey. "I look forward to continuing the important work of the NJAA, to expanding our resources and education programs as well as our regulatory and legislative advocacy on behalf of professional multi-family rental housing providers and the residents we represent."

Jean Maddalon, NJAA's executive director, noted that Dailey's leadership and guidance will be vital at a time when the Association's membership and advocacy efforts are rapidly expanding. "Our membership is at an all-time high, growing by 12,848 units in 2013 to a total of almost 190,000 units we now represent statewide," said Maddalon. "The Association also has made great strides through its legislative, regulatory and policymaking efforts to ensure that, as an industry, we are able to continue to provide safe, clean and affordable rental homes to families throughout the state."

In concert with its government affairs professionals, the NJAA identified over 1,500 bills that were introduced during the 2012-2013 legislative session for added attention and potential impacts on the industry. Topics include: rent control, COAH and affordable housing reforms, federal flood maps post-Hurricane Sandy, energy efficiency and economic development.

Education and Advocacy Emphasized, Officials and Board Members Recognized

In the coming year, the Association will focus on attracting owner members, diversifying its membership and increasing participation among current members, with an emphasis on NJAA's educational programming and events designed to help industry professionals gain knowledge and elevate their skills.

Dailey also called for increased membership participation to build on advocacy efforts with law and policy makers in Trenton and in Washington. "Active engagement with Legislative leaders on multi-family issues is the responsibility of every NJAA member and of our entire industry."

The evening included the recognition of the NJAA's 2014 executive board and officers and the election of its new board of director members, including the addition of three new seats to expand board participation.
