By: The Association of Junior Leagues International Reflecting the conference theme – “Leadership Empowered” – the event will feature daily workshops on topics such as board leadership and governance; luncheon speakers each day will further expand on the topic in their presentations. Friday’s luncheon panel will consist of six former AJLI Presidents and one former Vice-President, who will discuss how they developed their League leadership roles as well as in their leadership in their communities and professional lives. They are: · Deborah C. Brittain (Junior League of Greater Princeton and a former two-term president of the Junior League of Northern Virginia; AJLI President, 2000-2002). · Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker (Junior League of Buffalo; AJLI President, 1998-2000). · Nancy Evans (Junior League of Cedar Rapids; AJLI President, 1994-1996). · Sandi Kemmish May (Junior League of Fort Wayne; AJLI President, 2006-2008). · Maridel Moulton (Junior League of Oakland-East Bay; AJLI President, 1988-1990). · Debbie Brown Robinson (Junior League of Houston; AJLI President, 2008-2010). · MariBen Ramsey (Junior League of Austin; AJLI Vice President, 2005-2008). Saturday’s luncheon speaker will be Betsey Bayless, President Emeritus of the Maricopa Integrated Health System, Arizona’s only public hospital system, which she led for eight years as President and Chief Executive Officer. In that role, she was awarded the Arizona Hospital and Healthcare Association’ Current AJLI President Toni Freeman (Junior League of Charlotte) said, “For more than 11 decades, The Junior League has provided women with effective leadership training for their tenures as League leaders. However, what is fascinating to me, as a Junior League member for more than 20 years, is how training to develop more effective League leaders also often translates into leadership opportunities for their lives outside of their Leagues, both professionally and in terms of work for other nonprofit organizations at the national or local level.
