Trigger function introduction for SIGLENT SDS2000 series Super Phosphor Oscilloscope

SHENZHEN, China - Dec. 17, 2013 - PRLog -- 1.Trigger

Trigger is the most obvious feature to distinguish between analog oscilloscope and digital oscilloscope. With rich trigger functions, it is available to observe pre-trigger signal and signal after trigger through proper trigger setting on the digital oscilloscope.

Trigger is professional defined as capturing a waveform that meets the current set trigger conditions from numerous waveforms, and stably displaying it on the screen. Unique trigger conditions is the critical for accurate capture. Trigger delay is to move the trigger point from screen center to right for observation before triggered signal, while pre-trigger is to move the trigger point from screen center to left for observation after triggered signal.

Two key points of trigger function:

First, isolate interested signal;

Second, synchronize waveforms, or stabilize waveforms displaying.

The isolated signal means signal that meets the current trigger conditions.

2.Trigger introduction for Siglent oscilloscope

Based on trigger functions of SDS1000 series oscilloscope, the SDS2000 is developed with several advanced trigger functions:

Interval trigger

Runt trigger

Pattern trigger

Window

DropOut

A variety of series protocol triggers

Interval

Trigger when the current time you set and time interval, which is calculated from point that a rising(falling) edge and trigger level intersect at, to point that the neighbouring rising(falling) edge and trigger level intersect at meet the inequality(<,>,< >,> <) selected.

Interval trigger is conveniently available for capture and stably displaying of signal with unequal pulse widths.

Runt

Runt trigger includes positive runt and negative runt. The positive runt is used to trigger positive pulse that passes through the lower level but fails to pass through the higher level, while the other is used to trigger positive pulse that passes through the higher level but fails to pass through the lower level.

Pattern

Pattern trigger is defined as identifying a trigger condition by looking for a specified pattern, which is the logical combination (AND/OR/NAND/NOR) of two selected channels. The logical value of each channel can be set to "1"(high) or "0"(low).

IIC series protocol trigger

After set to IIC trigger mode under decoding menu, you can select to trigger on any one of trigger conditions, including start/stop, restart, missing acknowledgement, EEPROM address, or the read/write frame with specific device address and data value. In IIC trigger, you need to specify the SCL and SDA data source.

In addition to triggers introduced above, SDS2000 series oscilloscope is also equipped with Slope trigger and other series protocol triggers such as SPI, UART/RS232, CAN/LIN. For more information about these new advanced triggers, please refer to corresponding document in our website. Featured with advanced digital/series protocol triggers, SIGLENT make more efficient and diversified signal testing and analyzing for users.
