Holy Name High School Announces Centennial Year Celebration Events

2014 will honor the 100 - Year Anniversary

PARMA HEIGHTS, OH (December 2013) – Holy Name High School, which opened in 1914 as one of the first coeducational Catholic high schools in the Diocese of Cleveland, is excited to announce the events scheduled in 2014 to help recognize its 100-year anniversary.

The year-long centennial celebration will kick-off on January 5, 2014 with an opening Mass at Holy Name Church in Cleveland, where Holy Name High School was first located. The final 100-year celebration will be held on Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Holy Name’s current campus in Parma Heights. Throughout 2014, there will be additional celebrations commemorating the milestone anniversary, including a special St. Patrick’s Day Party in downtown Cleveland, a Reunion Dinner Dance and Festival in June and an official Birthday Celebration in September.

“For 100 years, it has been our privilege to provide a learning environment where high school students grow academically, spiritually and socially,” said Benjamin Farmer, President of Holy Name High School. “The Holy Name community has been very blessed, and we want to take the time in 2014 to honor our past, celebrate the present and build for the future. I know all of the events planned will allow our students, alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends to do just that.”

The 2014 Calendar of Main Events to celebrate Holy Name High School’s 100-year anniversary is as follows:

·         January 5, 2014: Centennial Celebration Opening Mass at Holy Name Church in Cleveland

·         March 1, 2014: Holy Name Rising Tide Auction and Gala at the Embassy Suites in Independence

·         March 17, 2014: St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Party at the Hyatt Regency Cleveland at The Arcade in Cleveland

·         May 22, 2014: Class of 2014 Tribute to Mary at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights

·         May 23, 2014: Class of 2014 Graduation at St. Columbkille Church in Parma

·         June 13, 2014: Alumni Reunion Dinner Dance at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights

·         June 14, 2014: Alumni Reunion and Community Festival at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights

·         September 2014: Official 100-Year ‘Birthday’ Celebration at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights

·         September 7, 2014: History of Holy Name High School Presentation at Holy Name Church & elementary school campus in Cleveland

·         October 24, 2014: 2014 Homecoming Mass and Game at Serpentini Chevrolet Stadium in North Royalton

·         November 2014: All Souls Day and Veterans Day Remembrance at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights

·         December 28, 2014: Centennial Closing Mass at Holy Name High School in Parma Heights
