By: Open Show LLC The Phillipsburg Perfect Christmas Tree Farm boasts 45 varieties of traditional and exotic evergreen trees. Visitors may select a pre-cut tree or take a hayride across the 40-acre land to choose their own tree to cut down. The historic stone farmhouse built in Colonial 1786 is always decked with Christmas splendor featuring rare ornaments, antiques, and “Santa’s Box” with free gifts for children. Mrs. Claus visits for story time on Saturdays and Sundays. The Perfect Christmas Tree Farm offers unique events throughout the year, but this is the first time it will showcase a holiday light display on a grand scale. The holiday light display is the work of Scott Abbott, an engineer from Lower Macungie Township, Pa., who, with his new startup business Open Show, offers affordable show-control technology for artists and performances of every genre. “One of the ways that traditionally successful professional acts stand out is they have behind them teams of people and tens of thousands of dollars of technology lighting them, handling their sound and making sure that it all goes on at the same time,” Abbott says. “Open Show seeks to provide some of that higher-end technology in an affordable package to all artists so that they may stand out wherever they may be.” “The technology that forms the basis of Open Show’s platform is smaller than a postage stamp but is as powerful as the mainframe computers that ran the original Disneyland and filled entire rooms,” Abbott explains. “With the right software, which is what Open Show is, that technology can be given to anyone. “ The hardware and event services that Abbott provides are offered at an affordable rate. In addition, all of the software he creates is offered to the public “open-source. “ This is a cutting-edge method in which a program’s code is available to the public for use or modification free of charge. Open-source code allows programmers to improve upon the code and share the changes with others. The software for Abbott’s holiday light display at the Perfect Christmas Tree Farm will be available for free to the public in late December on his website at http://www.openshow.co. It is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday. On Sundays it closes at 6 p.m. Those who want to cut down their own tree need to get there by 4 p.m. For more information about the Perfect Christmas Tree Farm, log on to http://perfectchristmastree.com/ ABOUT OPEN SHOW: Open Show is a powerful system of show-control technology.
