PHOENIX - Dec. 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Mary Rose, founder of Chirping Central Conservation Fund, from San Tan Valley, Arizona is hoping to raise $1,000,000 to benefit avian conservation projects before she sets out in the Great Pacific Race which begins June 7th, 2014. The ocean rowing race will commence in Monterey Bay, California and covers over 2,100 nautical miles, ending in Honolulu, Hawaii. All funds raised by Rose will be granted out from the Chirping Central Conservation Fund benefiting avian conservation projects worldwide.

Currently, Rose is one of two female contenders in the solo race category representing the United States. To date, no solo female rower from the United States has completed this route. Upon a successful completion, Rose would be the first Australian woman to accomplish this feat.

Having no prior athletic or boating background has not deterred Rose from taking on the challenge of a months-long solo journey across the ocean next year. Her training began in February 2012 and she currently trains about 30 hours a week. Her ultimate goal is to contribute as much financial support to the avian community as possible. “Avian conservation is my passion. I couldn’t think of a better way to dedicate myself and my time to something that means so much to me. “

All donations will be tax deductible and donors can track online which projects will be receiving funds. Sponsors so far include Subaru Superstore of Chandler and Maricopa Audubon Society. Rose is hoping individuals, as well as more local and national corporations will lend their support and help her make ocean rowing history. Training, race donation and sponsorship information is available at www.MaryRows.com.
