The Elite Group and M3 GLAM bring awareness to Domestic Violence with a Holiday Toy Drive

NEW YORK - Dec. 4, 2013 - PRLog -- The Elite Group and M3 GLAM provide for the community with a Holiday Toy Drive in support of the women’s shelter, La Casita. The women at this shelter receive a range of services that are implemented to help them readjust to life after being in an abusive relationship. The program provides services not only for the mothers, but for the children as well. The Holiday Toy Drive will bring a host of people together in hopes of raising money and gathering toys for these women who, under the circumstances, are unable to provide for their kids this holiday season.

The Brunch That Gives Holiday Toy Drive will be held at Apt 78, in Washington Heights, NY, on December 15, 2013. Starting at 12 p.m. and ending at 4 p.m., it is an RSVP only event and we ask that those who plan on attending donate toys, blankets, books and other gift items to give to the children of La Casita. There is also an option to donate $10 the day of event. Guest will be able to enjoy a two-course meal from the brunch menu for $20 that also includes unlimited Mimosas. Nail Tech Noelle and Make Up Artist Jacqueline will be providing complimentary manicures and makeovers to attendees in our unique Beauty Bar and literary author Tassika Lloyd will be reading an excerpt from her first ever written novel, She’s Your Daughter Too. Pastel Cupcakes will be providing decadent treats to our guest as they sip on Kamoni Ice a secret combination of rums and fruit juices.

The community always comes together during the holidays, says Delaila Catalino Founder of The Elite Group and the person who brought the event to fruition. Delaila is a monthly subscriber to a beauty box called Birchbox. Each beauty box comes with five deluxe samples of different beauty brands and also included is a card with a message for the month. November’s box was dedicated to Doing More Good. Whether that is helping a friend through a break up or serving a warm meal at a shelter; the point is to do a lot of little good things. It was from that box that the idea for the Holiday Toy Drive came about. After volunteering with some friends on Thanksgiving Day, Delaila set out to take the Do More Good Campaign to another level. It has now become a series of events throughout the month of December raising money and putting together clothing drives that help different organizations on their efforts to provide to those who do not have the means.

About La Casita  (The Little House)

La Casita is a NYSOASAS licensed residential treatment program for eighty-nine homeless women and their children and/or pregnant, which provides a comprehensive range of services for families. Services include substance abuse group and individual counseling and intervention, mental health services, educational/vocational services, medical assessment and monitoring care, HIV education, life skills training, parenting training, family counseling, recreational activities and a comprehensive on-site child care program. The program includes one and a half years of intensive treatment in residence and follows a modified therapeutic community model, including gradual progress through a level system in which participants earn privileges and take on increasing responsibility for their recovery, their families and their future.
