Man - made Diamonds being sold as Natural

DELHI, India - Nov. 22, 2013 - PRLog -- You stare inYou stare into  the brilliance of your just purchased diamond and quetely laud nature’s handiwork.Little knowing that scientist of chineese and Sweden deserve your pat,or that your deserve a refund from the jeweller or person who sold it as a natural diamond.Man made diamonds , just as sparkling but half as pricey , are being passed off as natural ones at outlets across India.Mumbai Traders have found out that some in the fraternity are importing synthetic diamonds as expensive  natural diamonds at a low prices.The extent of the racket is not known.

In many countries now man -made diamonds made by placing a small diamond ‘seed’ containing carbon which formulates natural diamond  in a lab environment.These diamonds then tagged as cheaper variants .But 70,000 crore industries of India have blurred distinction between natural and artificial diamond condition .Man – made diamonds are considered real as they are optically ,physically and chemically appear similar . The difference can only be identified by scientific instruments in a gem – testing labs. “The only difference is the limit to size”, said a Mumbai Traders.

This is because of technology and the equipments available with the producers.Most colorless diamonds range is between 0.50 - 1.50 carats . About 30,000 crore man made diamonds are floating in the global market as disguised as natural diamonds said Hardik Hundiya diamond market expert.He said one should check lab certificates before buying diamonds .Though there is no confirmed figure on the amount of man made diamonds being sold as natural diamonds in India , traders suspect it to around 10% of the global figure , or around 3000 crore.

Naresh Mehta of Panchratana Cooperation Housing Society,  a major diamond hub in Mumbai, confirmed that such thing is happening.Delhi based Ratnesh Jain of All India Gems And Jewellery Trade Federation said ‘Its very difficult to differentiate from the original ones.Their sale in Delhi cannot be ruled out, but no case come across.
