| New Music Releases for October from Storm Warning Entertainment LTD/Code 7 MusicThere is a wealth of new music hitting the scene this year, and here is a few select highlights from the new releases that will be coming out from Storm Warning Entertainment and Code 7 Music this October.
By: Code 7 One of the UK’s most exciting new rock prospects, Mallory Knox have enjoyed a highly successful 2013, with a host of radio airplay leading to their Best British Newcomer nomination at the Kerrang! Awards, and an opening slot on the main stage at Reading and Leeds. The band received rave reviews for their debut album, Signals, which also hit the top of the Official iTunes Rock Charts. This deluxe version of Signals includes five bonus tracks, as well as popular singles such as Death Rattle, Wake Up and Lighthouse. · The Martha’s Vineyard Ferries – Mass. Grave What started out as an in-joke between friends about their Massachusetts home, has developed into some pretty incredible music. The Ferries are made up of Kahoots guitarist Elisha Wiesner, Bob Weston, who plays bass guitar for Shellac, Volcano Suns and Mission of Burma, and drummer Chris Brokaw from Come, Codeine and The New Year. Their new record, Mass. Grave, is undoubtedly influenced by the band members’ other projects, but they all combine to create their own unique sound, which Elisha describes as “Minor Threat crossed with Eight Miles High by The Byrds”. · Castevet – Obsian New York band Castevet burst onto the scene in 2010 debut full-length album Mounds of Ash, and since then they have defined themselves as one of the most unique and invigorating bands on the underground extreme metal circuit. Drawing influences from neo-classical, jazz and progressive metal, Castevet’s sound is unlike any of their contemporaries. Their new album, Obsian, presents a more dense and complex sound that is sure to please new and old fans alike. · Truckfighters – The Chairman Ask anyone in the underground stoner/fuzz scene, and they’ll tell you that the Truckfighters are probably one of the best bands in the world right now. With three albums, a full-length documentary, supporting slots on European tours with Kvelertak and Fu Manchu, and various TV appearances, the Truckfightes are on a quest for world domination. That quest continues with The Chairman, a limited edition vinyl EP that precedes the release of their new album, slated in for early 2014. · The Movements – Like Elephants 1 Gothenburg garage rock specialists The Movement take a brave step into the world of psychedelic rock with their latest album. As the title suggests, Like Elephants 1 is the first instalment of a two-part release, with Like Elephants 2 set for release in early 2014. With this album, The Movements demand more from their listeners, offering a more enriched experience for those who commit to taking the time to consume these songs in their true form. · Twink – You Reached For The Stars Fans of underground rock need no introduction to Twink, who has previously played with the likes of Tomorrow, The Pretty Things and The Pink Fairies. After the re-release of his 1969 album Think Pink earlier this year went down a storm with Twink fans, the Sunbeam label has now re-released You Reached For The Stars. This mind-expanding album sees Twink collaborate with psychedelic outfit The Technicolour Dream. Having originally been recorded in Rome, You Reached For The Stars was mastered at Abbey Road this summer, and features eight bonus tracks.
