By: Better Business Bureau Consumers were also very generous in helping to raise money for the BBB Educational Foundation, that funds many consumer facing programs such as the Senior Scene (http://detroit.bbb.org/ Overall, the BBB hosted event saw the following results: · 942 cars served · $3,028 donated to the BBB Educational Foundation · 37,600 pounds/19 tons of paper shredded by Cintas · 13,581 pounds electronic waste recycled by GEEP In addition, recycling and shredding at the event saved: · 320 trees · 56 cubic yards of landfill · 38 barrels of oil · 131,600 gallons of water “As a non-profit business serving persons with developmental disabilities, there are many rules regarding client confidentiality and record destruction which can sometimes be cumbersome for a small business to manage,” said Terey Delisle, executive director of Living Skills Residential Services. “I was happy to hear about the BBB event knowing that I could easily shred years of documentation and trust that the security of the information would be maintained. The event was well organized and the staff was helpful and friendly – I will definitely attend in the future.” The Better Business Bureau of Eastern Michigan will host its next ‘Secure Your ID’ Day shred event on April 26, 2014.
