Multi-Platinum Canadian Songwriter LUKE McMASTER Unleashes Powerhouse Dance Track

McMaster has helped pen a host of multi-platinum hits for artists including Rihanna, Nick Lachey, Kalan Porter, Rex Goudie, Ryan Malcolm and Marc Jordan. "NYC" Showcases Internationally Renown Talents, Bek Phillips and DJ Titus1

LOS ANGELES - Oct. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- New York, NY: As one of the most beloved destinations on the planet, it's no surprise it took a global collaboration of artists born in three countries, on two continents, to produce an electrifying anthem, with one of the great cities of the modern era as its "heart and soul". Fusing the talents of Toronto-based singer-songwriter Luke McMaster, U.S. based singer-songwriter Bek Phillips and Chilean DJ/Producer Titus1, "NYC" stands tall in the dance music skyline as one of the hottest tracks of twenty thirteen.

With lyrics and a blue-eyed soul lead vocal by Canadian icon Luke McMaster, a soaring counterpoint by singer Bek Phillips and infectious propulsive beats by Titus1, "NYC" blasts out of speakers with a captivating groove that's igniting immediate and lasting reactions. First to feel the flame was Mix 97 (CIGL), a Hot AC radio station in Ontario, Canada, which added the single into rotation at the end of September and was subsequently flooded with requests, catapulting the song to #12 in only two weeks.

Signed to Universal Records as a songwriter, McMaster has helped pen a host of multi-platinum hits including Rihanna "A Girl Like Me," Nick Lachey '"What's Left Of Me," Kalan Porter "219 days," Rex Goudie "Under the Lights," Ryan Malcolm "Home" and Marc Jordan "Falling Man". Luke has also achieved critical acclaim and commercial success as a solo artist, charting his single "Good Morning Beautiful" and touring as direct support for Christina Aguilera, among others.

With an impressive string of hit songs to his credit, McMaster knows when something feels right and felt from the get-go that his collaboration with Phillips would be something really special. "I was thrilled when we were paired up to do a duet for the Celebration of the 70's TV special. It was just the two of us with piano but it was so powerful. I was struck by how, even with just an acoustic guitar Bek's voice projected right to the back of the room. Such a natural, emotive sound, I kept thinking how much I'd love to hear her on a big, bumpin' track, so I wrote NYC, with her in mind. And with Bek being from New York, telling the story of the Canadian boy getting on a jet plane to go find love in the bright lights of the big city couldn't have been more perfect or serendipitous."

Drawing comparisons to Sara Bareilles, Alanis Morissette, Natasha Bedingfield and Kelly Clarkson, tri-coastal singer Bek Phillips (LA/Miami/Hartford) has mesmerized audiences for the past ten years, landing opening slots for The Backstreet Boys, Paula Deanda and Paper Tongues. Most recently, Phillips was a featured singer during the nationally syndicated TV special Celebration of the 70's that included Romantic Piano Sensation Jim Brickman, singers Rita Coolidge, David Cassidy & Stephen Bishop, Motown legend, Thelma Houston, and ‘70s pop-icon, Yvonne Elliman.

Phillips recalls meeting McMaster for the first time, "Luke is an incredibly talented singer and songwriter who I met while taping Jim Brickman's Celebration of the 70's TV special. Luke and I performed a duet of Brickman's song 'The Gift'. I felt like our voices blended beautifully and we kept in touch. When I heard his newest track 'NYC,' I was floored. Being an East coast girl from CT, New York City brings up the most wonderful memories for me. The arts there are so rich. I'm never disappointed hearing the untapped talent of some unknown artist in an underground club...it's electric, romantic and inspiring. I absolutely love it and am thrilled to have the opportunity to sing on a song that honors 'NYC'."

In addition to working with McMaster on "NYC," Phillips has written and recorded with musicians Jimmy McGorman (Avril Lavigne, Cassadee Pope, Cher, Shakira) and Brad Fernquist (Goo Goo Dolls, Bonnie McKee, Hilary Duff) and recently collaborated with on a song with producer Enoch Jensen (The Acacia Strain, Dead By Wednesday) and drummer Miles McPherson (Paramore, Kelly Clarkson, Bo Bice).
