ATLANTA - Oct. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Dusseldorf/Waldkraiburg, October 2013. As part of a long-standing collaboration,  KRAIBURG TPE has developed a special material for the French company FDI France Medical. The compound from the THERMOLAST® K portfolio has been used within the handhold, the forearm rest as well as the lower part of the elbow crutch ErgoDynamic. The material is particularly soft and therefore allows a very safe and comfortable grip and handling of the walking aid. An integrated shock absorbing mechanism gently dampens impacts and thus protects the wrists, elbows and shoulders.
The THERMOLAST® K portfolio offers a broad range of TPE compounds for the most different purposes. In the case of the handhold of the walking aid, it was important to FDI France Medical that the users hold an especially soft material in their hands, which prevents them from slipping at the same time. For this reason, the decision was made in favor of a compound which combines a high abrasion resistance with a safe, non-slip and comfortable grip.

FDI decided to process THERMOLAST® K together with polypropylene (PP) via 2-component injection moulding. In this processing method, the two materials form an excellent bond. For the processor this means one assembly step less and an increase of productivity.

Due to the successful collaboration, the next product of FDI France Medical will also be realized in cooperation with KRAIBURG TPE. This will be a walking stick for elderly people.
