DALLAS - Oct. 15, 2013 - PRLog -- In honor of October’s National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, ACME Social Club (formerly ACME F&B) hosts Cocktails for a Cure to benefit Greater Dallas Arya Samaj (GDAS) Cancer Clinic on Thursday, October 24, 6pm. – Midnight. The high-energy event will feature live entertainment by DJs Tyrone Smiley and JT Donaldson, bands Barefoot Hippies and Fingerless Ghost, a silent auction from 7pm – 9pm, and five pink drink specials and a delicious pink Strawberry Bavarian Napoleon dessert with a portion of sales benefiting the cancer clinic. Cocktails for a Cure was created by ACME Bar Manager Julie Campbell, two-year breast cancer survivor, and Starbucks District Manager Marsha King who was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago. They first heard about GDAS Cancer Clinic from their oncologist, Dr. Minal Barve of Texas Oncology- Presbyterian Cancer Center Dallas, who volunteers with her staff at the non-profit weekly.  GDAS Cancer Clinic treats uninsured breast, lung, or colon cancer patients.

Says Campbell, “This is our chance to give back to those who saved our lives and to help fellow patients. We plan to host Cocktails for a Cure for many years to come or until a cure has been discovered.”

The fundraising event includes some extraordinary auction items such as a Tito’s Vodka acoustic guitar signed by owner Tito Beveridge, VIP tour of Rahr Brewery, Starbuck’s Verismo Machine, luxurious overnight stay at Becker Vineyards Bed & Breakfast, and much, much more. Campbell, well-known for her amusing cocktail concoctions, has whipped up some pink delights such as the Ta-ta Tini (in photo) made with basil-infused 2 Gingers Irish Whiskey, Aperol and basil-infused simple syrup or The Hope made with Tito’s Vodka, watermelon puree and lemonade.
