Experts Support Release Of Navy Yard Shooter's Medication History

LAS CRUCES, N.M. - Sept. 27, 2013 - PRLog -- The International Society for Ethical Psychology and Psychiatry (ISEPP) today issued a statement commending Representative Jeff Miller, Chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, for his effort to obtain additional details regarding Navy yard shooter Aaron Alexis' medical records from the Veterans Administration.

ISEPP also encouraged Rep. Miller to expand his investigation beyond this individual case and to investigate the VA's documented overuse of potentially harmful psychotropic medications.

For the past two years ISEPP has been working with the Veterans Administration and the Department of Defense to improve the treatment of veterans and soldiers who are diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).  Specifically, ISEPP has been advocating for the increased use of non-drug approaches to treatment, including sensorimotor psychotherapy, other trauma-informed psychotherapy, peer support and family support.

The International Society for Ethical Psychology and Psychiatry (ISEPP) commends Rep. Jeff Miller, chairman of the House Veterans Affairs Committee, for requesting more details regarding Navy Yard shooter Aaron Alexis' medical records from the VA.
