While private lessons are the main focus of the academy, the classes and ensembles offered separate Precedence from traditional lessons. Classes are designed to work in tandem with lessons to provide a richer and more complete musical education. From the very basics of music to composition and film scoring, we provide any student with the tools needed to succeed in music. Our initial offering of classes is limited to the following: Music Concrete Mornings & Evenings & Saturdays This is not theory! Banish that thought! This is the foundation for learning all forms of music. It reduces the learning time to start on a firm foundation. Just the basics: notation, rhythm, chords, and why everyone will make you learn scales. Music Theory Evenings & Saturdays This is Theory! Why does music sound like music? Because counterpoint, harmonic progression, 7th chords, diatonic harmony, form and structure, and a few weird things every piece together. Expect ear-training in every class because if we can't hear it, theory is pretty useless. Help! My child knows more than me! Evenings The very basics of music. This class is an introduction for parents to the concepts their children will be studying. This is a must for anyone who has come up clueless when a child asks "How does this rhythm sound?" Learn how to help your child during their daily practice, and make their experience (and yours) more rewarding. So you're afraid of Classical Music? Evenings This course offers an explanation for why Classical music is still so revered. What's a cantata or a partita? Who was Bach and why do we care? Includes an explanation of the most dreaded musical form of all: Opera. Classical music is no mystery; it just hasn’t been introduced properly! Tot-Rock Mornings & Saturdays Drop your tot in for a wonderful time! We teach basic concepts through music. Toddlers will explore musical activities which help enhance motor, social, and neurologic development alongside their parents! Take these activities home to rock out your daily routine. Make your own instruments Mornings & Saturdays Come in, make your instrument, and learn to play it! All ages are welcome for this family time. Choose one or two instruments to take home. Not your nanny’s craft toys, these instruments are fully functional and will last. Start your family band! Ensembles Mornings & Evenings & Saturdays Combos, Choirs, Chamber groups. Call or email for times and groups. Classes and lessons are scheduled on a first come first served basis. Classes are offered from 9:00am -1:00 pm, and 7:00pm to 9:00 pm Monday through Friday, and 9:00am to 4:00 pm on Saturdays. Individual class times may vary. Classes and lesson slots are already filing up very fast, as our teachers are all in high demand. Come set your Precedent! End
