Sept. 23, 2013 - PRLog -- The man, a 49 year old from the North East, contacted the Dental Law Partnership to pursue a dental negligence compensation claim due to his dissatisfaction with the work he had received from his dentist of many years.

Having visited the dentist since 1989, the client was surprised to find out that the bridge work he had received had been completed to a very low standard. The verdict was given by specialists at a local dental hospital, which the man attended after having encountered multiple problems with his bridge work.

The original bridge treatment took place in May 2005, but just four months later, the upper left bridge had fallen off completely and had to be cemented back into place. Unfortunately, this was not the last of the client’s problems and in February 2009 the client decided to change dentist.

A new dentist diagnosed gum problems and performed deep scaling on his teeth; noting also that extensive treatment would be required. The client was referred to a specialist at a dental hospital for a treatment plan.

It was during this phase that he discovered the failure of the original bridgework, which would all need to be replaced. The problem stemmed from the fact that the original dentist had linked too many of the client’s teeth together under the bridges, but that was not all. He had also provided poor root fillings and installed posts on four teeth to fix the bridge in place, all of which were too short.

Further examination revealed that several of the teeth in the bridge had decayed. Three would require fillings and nine would require root fillings. All fourteen remaining teeth would also require crowns and implants would be required to support new bridgework.

While the original dentist in question refused to accept liability, the Dental Law Partnership was successful in bringing a dental compensation claim against him which was eventually settled out of court. The client received a sum of £45,000 which would cover the cost of corrective treatment and the pain and suffering caused.
