Sept. 18, 2013 - PRLog -- A sixty three year old man from the South East has been awarded £37,500 in an out of court settlement after seeking the help of the Dental Law Partnership when his dentist provided a number of poorly fitting crowns on upper and lower teeth. It was alleged that this dental negligence left the patient unable to eat properly.

The client visited his dentist in 2010, and was advised that he should have crowns fitted on all of his upper teeth to improve their shape and appearance. The work was carried out, but the patient was immediately unhappy with them, in terms of the look of the crowns and the effect they had on his bite. In order to correct his bite, the patient agreed to have his lower teeth treated, since he was lead to believe that this was the only solution to the problem. The dentist fitted crowns to all but 4 of the man’s teeth.

Despite raising concerns about his teeth on a number of occasions he was reassured by his dentist that everything was fine. In spite of this reassurance, the discomfort he suffered left him unable to eat hard food due to the pain and discomfort it caused. On top of this, he remained unhappy with the appearance of the crowns.

Because of dental negligence, the client had to suffer the removal of all of the crowns, and the provision of temporary restorations. In the long term, he will also suffer through the replacement of the crowns with permanent restorations.

With the help of the Dental Law Partnership, their client was able to secure £37,500 in dental compensation, despite the fact that his dentist did not admit liability.
